Many roads lead to Bad Gastein.
We have put together the most important ones for you here.

By Train

The train station of the Bad Gastein community is just a few minutes' walk from the Pension Steinbacher.

Bad Gastein can be reached by train from the north via Salzburg and Bischofshofen, as well as through the Tauern tunnel from the south. The Austrian high-speed train ÖBB Railjet is currently taking you to Bad Gastein 8 times a day.

The train tunnel also serves as a lock for cars from and to Carinthia.

With Your Own Car

Do you want to stay flexible and need the spacious storage space of your car for your luggage? We look forward to seeing you in front of our door with your car. There are some parking spaces in front of the property.

Especially in winter, we recommend getting information about the traffic situation before you leave for the Gastein Valley. In Austria, the ÖAMTC driver club is at your disposal. You can also get breakdown assistance in Gastein Valley from the ARBÖ motorists' association.

Please also make sure to attach a vignette to your car before using the toll highway. This is also available as a digital edition on the ASFINAG website.

Airport Salzburg

The nearest airport is in the state capital of Salzburg, 1.5 hours away.

Gastein taxi companies offer transfers to Salzburg Airport several times a day.

Please contact our reception desk if we can help you to organize an airport transfer.

Tauern motorail

If you want to avoid the small detour via the motorway or possibly avoid a traffic jam on the busy Tauern Autobahn, use the ÖBB Tauern lock coming from the south, which connects the Gastein Valley with the southernmost state of Austria, Carinthia.

During the day, the train runs every hour both north and south.
If necessary, the frequency is increased.
